Nailed To The Cross (Song)

Nailed To The Cross The accuser of the brethren does his job very well; He wants to condemn us and remind us of Hell. But I went humbly to Jesus, laid all my sins at His feet; When my past comes to haunt me, I won’t give in to defeat. (Chorus) My sins are nailed to the cross, My sins are nailed to the cross; I have a new home in Heaven, because of the cross - My sins are nailed to His cross. Jesus Christ is the Way, He is the Truth, and the Life, He shed His blood on Calvary to bring to us new life; Though your sins may be as scarlet, and your past black as night, He can wash them away, and make you clean in His sight. (2nd Chorus) Your sins are nailed to the cross, Your sins are nailed to the cross; You have a new lease on life, because of the cross - Your sins are nailed to His cross. Oh my friend, come now to Jesus, the Truth and the Way; Leave your sins with the Saviour - He will take them away; And though you may seek them, know that they are truly gone; If they come back to your ...

Footprints In The Sand (Poem)

Footprints In The Sand One night I dreamed a dream. I was walking along the beach with my Lord. Across the dark sky flashed scenes from my life. For each scene, I noticed two sets of footprints in the sand, one belonging to me and one to my Lord. When the last scene of my life shot before me I looked back at the footprints in the sand. There was only one set of footprints. I realized that this was at the lowest and saddest times of my life. This always bothered me and I questioned the Lord about my dilemma. “Lord, You told me when I decided to follow You, You would walk and talk with me all the way. But I’m aware that during the most troublesome times of my life there is only one set of footprints. I just don’t understand why, when I need You most, You leave me.” He whispered, “My precious child, I love you and will never leave you, never, ever, during your trials and testings. When you saw only one set of footprints, It was then that I carried you.” By Margaret Fishback Powers Exodus ...

Peace, Perfect Peace (Poem)

Peace, Perfect Peace Peace, perfect peace at such a time for me; I need You, Lord, to watch over and cover me. I’m overwhelmed by fears, in temptation I am weak; Your peace, Your love, Your joy - Oh Lord. that is what I truly seek. Peace, perfect peace - make my heart Your home; Keep me ever close to Your side each time I start to roam. Comfort me and strengthen me - cause my struggles to cease; Oh, Lord, I need You now - blanket me with Your peace. Peace, perfect peace - to that promise I must cling; Leaning upon You, my Beloved - and the victory You must bring. There’s a battle that is raging within this heart of mine - I give these cares to You, Oh Lord, strengthen me this time. Peace, perfect peace - one day soon I will rise; Throw off this garment of my flesh, as I take to the skies; Meet You in the air, Oh Jesus - I can’t wait for that day. Until then I need Your peace, dear Lord, reigning in my soul each day. August 23rd, 2025 Jerry Bouey (Dedicated to all my brothers and ...

God Broke Through (Poem)

God Broke Through Breaking through the darkness, Bringing forth the light, Dispelling all the shadows, And scattering darkest night. God broke through all our darkness, He’s the Bright and Morning Star; The True Light that is now shining, Reaching us where we are. Breaking forth in judgement; Bringing justice to the land. Soon the King will reign in righteousness, And the Truth of God will stand. Breaking through the gauntlet, Setting the prisoners free; I’m victorious in my Saviour - For Jesus Christ has rescued me. Break forth into singing, And shout aloud in praise; Worship the Lord in holiness; Rejoice before Him all your days. August 13th, 2025 Jerry Bouey (Dedicated to my Bible study friend, Theresa, who brought forth a wonderful discussion on the Lord breaking through into our lives.) Genesis 38:27-30 And it came to pass in the time of her travail, that, behold, twins were in her womb. And it came to pass, when she travailed, that the one put out his hand: and the midwife took ...

The Haven Of Rest (Hymn)

The Haven Of Rest (Words: Henry L. Gilmour) My soul in sad exile was out on life's sea, So burdened with sin and distressed, Till I heard a sweet voice, saying, "Make Me your choice"; And I entered the "Haven of Rest"! Chorus: I've anchored my soul in the "Haven of Rest," I'll sail the wide seas no more; The tempest may sweep over the wild, stormy, deep, In Jesus I'm safe evermore. I yielded myself to His tender embrace, In faith taking hold of the Word, My fetters fell off, and I anchored my soul; The "Haven of Rest" is my Lord. The song of my soul, since the Lord made me whole, Has been the old story so blest, Of Jesus, Who'll save whosoever will have A home in the "Haven of Rest." How precious the thought that we all may recline, Like John, the beloved so blest, On Jesus' strong arm, where no tempest can harm, Secure in the "Haven of Rest." O come to the Savior, He patiently waits To save by His powe...

Arise, And Come Away (Poem)

Arise, And Come Away Arise, and come away, My love, Arise, and come away; Come, spend some time with Me, My child; Seek My face today. I long to fellowship with you, My love, Until the breaking of the day; Amidst the toiling and the trying times, Arise, and come away. I offer rest and renewal for your soul, I will take your burdens away. Find solace and shelter in My presence, Arise, and come away. Under the shadow of My wings, You will find a peace like you’ve never known; Like a sparrow finds a nest in My temple, I am your eternal home. I am all you will ever need, My child. Abba, Father, is My name. Come spend some time with Me, My love, Arise, and come away. March 22nd, 2025 Jerry Bouey (For Mother's Day, 2025) Matthew 11:29-30 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. Song of Songs 2:10-13 My beloved spake, and said unto me, Rise up, my love, my fair one, an...

The Savour Of The Saviour' Name (Poem)

The Savour Of The Saviour’s Name The blessed savour of my Saviour, Like an ointment or perfume - Oh, the joy of His dear presence Floods my heart and fills the room. Oh, the wonder of Jesus’ name Captures my soul with pure delight. And the glory that surrounds us, Dispels our deepest, darkest night. When we spend time with our Saviour, There’s a gladness and a peace. There’s a hope and expectation - Abundant life that will never cease. By His death and resurrection, He paid redemption’s price for all; Oh, the blessing of His salvation When upon His name we call. The wondrous savour of life unto life - The blessings that fill our hearts. Oh, the glory of His presence - And the wonder His love imparts! May 4th, 2025 Jerry Bouey Because of the savour of thy good ointments thy name is as ointment poured forth, therefore do the virgins love thee. My Wilderness Wanderings (Poem)

My Wilderness Wanderings Wandering in this wilderness, Alas the desert, my home for years; Barren, thirsty, empty inside - No water in sight but my tears… You know all of my wilderness wanderings; Every fallen tear is written in Your book. When I feel so lost in my own desert, So dry inside, I can’t even find a brook, You make note of all of my inward struggles; Your mercy is there waiting for me each day; Only needing to return to where I left Your side, You call me back to the place I wandered away. Lord, it seems like I’ve fallen so many times, Faltering, stumbling, reaching for Your hand - So weak, only able to lean upon my Beloved; And there I find once again I’m able to stand. Forgiveness flowing like a stream in my desert, Quenching all of my thirst in the heat of the day; My heart leaps for joy and my tongue sings aloud, My restored soul wandering no longer astray. March 22nd, 2025 Jerry Bouey (First verse written June 23rd, 2019, after the Lord restored me from my backslidings...

As The Lily Among Thorns (Poems)

As The Lily Among Thorns Jesus is the Lily of the Valleys, Our Saviour is the fairest of delight. In the darkness of this world, He’s the bright and shining light. As the Lily among thorns, So are His people in this life; Transplanted spots of beauty, In the midst of harm and strife. In His eyes, so spotless, pure, and lovely, Regal, transformed, and undefiled; Like the precious flowers of the field, Clothed with splendour is God’s child. Living in the midst of thorns - So tragic is their plight: While they scorn and harm the lilies, They dwell in the darkest night. But sometimes a seed is planted Among the thorns; yes, tis true; As the Gospel seed is watered, We may find a surprising view. The wonder of the Saviour’s love, Touching hearts and souls His way - Can a forgotten thorn become a lily, Changed and transformed in a day? In this life, a mystery to imagine, But now a splendour to behold. Once, reckless and abandoned, A new sheep welcomed to the fold. Live your life for Jes...

When God Whispers Your Name (Poem)

When God Whispers Your Name Walking in the Garden, in the cool of the day; Hiding from my Saviour for I had gone astray, But in His grace and mercy, to me my Lord came; His love broke my resistance when He whispered my name. I was like a dead man, with no hope left in the world, Surrounded by my enemies, when all their lies were hurled; All my defeats and failures, pouring forth my shame, Then came a new beginning when the Lord called out my name. Grieving at the gravesite of my dearest in this life; Overwhelmed with sorrow, discouragement and strife. Distressed with loss and anguish, heart so filled with pain - Comfort and healing came when I heard You say my name. Wandering without a purpose, feeling forsaken too. Does God in Heaven love you, can you know this love so true? Jesus proved His love towards us - the answer is so plain: The Shepherd now is calling, hear Him whispering your name. March 8th, 2025 Jerry Bouey 1 Kings 19:11-12 And he said, Go forth, and stand upon the mount b...

Touching The Hem Of Jesus' Garment (Prose)

Touching The Hem Of Jesus’ Garment I am unclean, she thought. I am separated from those around me. My disease has taken its toll. How can I be healed? I’ve spent all my money on my physicians - with all their tests and medicine - and yet I am not even one bit better. Rather, I am getting progressively worse. Will I be like this forever? Can I ever be cured? Even I don’t know the answer to that question. Alone, defiled, aching inside, longing for healing. Longing to be made whole these twelve long, lonely years. There is a travelling preacher - some say He is the Messiah we’ve been waiting for. Can this be true? He is preaching of the Kingdom of God, preaching the way of salvation, healing many He has encountered along the way. What about me? I need forgiveness, I need hope, I need healing, both inside and out. Can this Jesus be the Saviour we have long been waiting for? I need to see for myself. There He is - but He is surrounded by so many people in this crowd. Can I get to Him? Will ...

Foreign Words To My Soul (Poem)

Foreign Words To My Soul When reading through the Bible for the very first time - Oh, what a far-off foreign land it must have seemed. From Genesis to Revelation, a path so unfamiliar, Full of glorious things of which no man could have dreamed. It speaks of fallen angels, of a supernatural war; Of Adam and Eve's sin in Paradise, and oh so much more. It tells of the spotless Lamb of God, chosen from of old, And of the people of His pasture, His own precious sheepfold. It tells of the holy prophets, those who gave to us His Word; It reveals to us the Law of God, in case you haven't heard; It speaks to fallen man of his own lost, sinful estate - Of the Saviour who came down to earth, to the world which He did create. It shows to us God the Father sending His only Son; Of His wondrous words of life and the works that He has done. It tells us that one day Jesus is coming back again, And shows to all the glorious hope of His future reign. "Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani," cr...

Walking With The Lord (Poem)

Walking With The Lord You don’t need amazing miracles, Nor blazing signs to light up your way; You just need to be the Father’s servant, And choose to walk with Him every day. You don’t need positive-only pep talks, Nor comic book “Bibles” to entertain you; You just need to continue in God’s Word - His Holy Spirit will illuminate you. You don’t need all that excitement and drama, Nor do you need a life filled with endless ease; Just be steadfastly focussed upon the Lord - And Jesus will give you His perfect peace. You don’t need all the glitz and the glamour, Don’t let the world pull your heart away; Just live for the things of Heaven above, Let Jesus’ love be enough for you each day. You don’t need to be broken or down-hearted, Let the joy of the Lord be your strength and praise; There’s a change within that only God can bring - Jesus walks beside you, now and always. February 16th, 2025 Jerry Bouey John 17:3 And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God,...

In Sunshine And Shadow (Song)

In Sunshine And Shadow In sunshine and shadow, in real joy and in pain, You bless the people that call on Your name; In times of sore trials and in times of peace, We know that Your love for us will never cease. In sunshine and shadow - the crown or the cross, The fiery furnaces we face only remove the dross; For every trial of life the Lord has a reason, They purify and chasten - though now for a season. In sunshine and shadow, in darkness or in light, You are with me in the daytime, and guard my soul each night; You answer all my questions, and soothe all my troubling fears - In sunshine and shadow, You walk with me through all the years. In sunshine and shadow - through winds and through waves, From the heights of the mountains to the depths of the grave, Jesus is holding you strong in the grip of His grace - Held secure in the arms of the only God who saves. February 9th, 2025 Jerry Bouey Psalms 139:7-12 Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy pre...

What Is Truth? (Poem)

What Is Truth? "What is truth?" asked Pilate; That's easy enough, I said. It is what's right, what's real - These words that I have read. Truth is God - what He has revealed, Truth is love that is not concealed; Truth is God's promises - He cannot lie; Truth is Jesus Christ, who had to die. Truth is honest, pure and lovely, On these thoughts I must dwell; Truth is God's law written in my heart, The Gospel that I must tell. Truth is in security, in providence; My Lord - He is Faithful and True; I just have to show you how much God's own Son loves you. Jesus gave His life for us - The Bible tells me this is so; I gave my life in faith to Him, That His Truth I might know. March 14, 1995 Jerry Bouey John 18:38 Pilate saith unto him, What is truth? And when he had said this, he went out again unto the Jews, and saith unto them, I find in him no fault at all. Ephesians 4:20-21 But ye have not so learned Christ; If so be that ye have heard him, and have bee...

There's A Blessing (Poem)

There's A Blessing Don't miss out on church - There's a blessing from above; When we fellowship together, And our hearts are knit in love. We're one family united, Joint-heirs by His blood. Don't miss out on church - There's a blessing in this place; Hear the preaching of God's Word, As we seek the Saviour's face. With love, exhorting one another, Bound together by His grace. Don't miss out on church - There's a blessing on the way; Bring all your tithes and offerings, And watch how Jesus does repay. There's a blessing in the work, When we go, and give, and pray. Don't miss out on the blessing! September 15th, 2002 Jerry Bouey (Written for the Tenth Anniversary of People's Baptist Church, Kelowna, BC) Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching. Hebrews 10:25 Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the ...

The Shepherd Beckons (Poem)

The Shepherd Beckons Baa Baa Black Sheep, You've left the flock to roam; But the Shepherd now is calling - He wants to welcome you back home. He has left the ninety and the nine. To search and find the one; Listen to our Saviour's voice - Don't harden your heart and run. Jesus came down from Heaven, To seek and save that which was lost; He was sacrificed for you - For love comes with a heavy cost. Though your wool is red like crimson, He can remove the deepest stains; He can throw your sins as far as east is from west, Because His love always remains. Oh my wandering little Black Sheep, Before you wander out into the storm, Remember, the only place of safety in this world, Is when you are cradled in His arms. He loves you dearly, my beloved Black Sheep; You need never doubt that He cares; Jesus is knocking softly at your heart's door now, But only you can invite Him there. October 7th, 1995 Jerry Bouey Luke 15:4-7 What man of you, having an hundred sheep, if he lose o...

The Loss Of A Best Friend (Poem)

The Loss Of A Best Friend We fall apart - it seems as such other times we run, Some love the darkened dream too much to ever face the Son. I know, to you, I've really changed practically overnight; In your view, my life's been rearranged, ordered by the Light. I miss the friendship that we shared, the many times our souls we've bared. But now, from me, without a trace, you've fled so very far; I search desperately for your face in every passing car. How could four years of our lives just crumble down to dust? Now I face my darkest fears in someone that I trust. No matter how hurt or mistreated I have been, I've stuck with you, my friend, through thick or thin. There's a new reason to live, a new life I have found; Knowing my heart, you're nowhere, though I've searched around. In my mind, and in my prayers, I'll always wish that you were there. Inside my memory, you'll always be; There's hope in Jesus - I hope you'll see. April 8th, 1993...

Stand Fast (Poem)

Stand Fast We look around at a world That is changing day by day. A little here, a little there, Truth and Justice fade away. We can't condone these changes. The churches must shine a while more. We must learn to love the sinners While our hearts are torn by war. A battle between God's Spirit And the lawlessness of man. While the Lord still extends His mercy, The end must come as planned. We must keep walking in the Spirit, Holding forth the Word of Life, And pray that they will hear it Amidst the emptiness and strife. Petitioning our Father For the souls that come our way. With our hearts in one accord, Waiting for that coming Day. As brethren in Christ Jesus, We must firmly hold our ground. Watching for our Lord's return, Praying a faithful remnant will be found. Pleading for the Righteous Judge To establish Justice once again, Waiting for the Prince of Peace To begin His endless reign. June 23rd, 1996 Jerry Bouey 2 Peter 3:9-13 The Lord is not slack concerning his prom...
