My Wilderness Wanderings (Poem)

My Wilderness Wanderings Wandering in this wilderness, Alas the desert, my home for years; Barren, thirsty, empty inside - No water in sight but my tears… You know all of my wilderness wanderings; Every fallen tear is written in Your book. When I feel so lost in my own desert, So dry inside, I can’t even find a brook, You make note of all of my inward struggles; Your mercy is there waiting for me each day; Only needing to return to where I left Your side, You call me back to the place I wandered away. Lord, it seems like I’ve fallen so many times, Faltering, stumbling, reaching for Your hand - So weak, only able to lean upon my Beloved; And there I find once again I’m able to stand. Forgiveness flowing like a stream in my desert, Quenching all of my thirst in the heat of the day; My heart leaps for joy and my tongue sings aloud, My restored soul wandering no longer astray.
