Were You An Angel? (Poem)

Were You An Angel? We wondered were you an angel? When you walked through our front door. You touched our lives in so many ways - Made them different than before. We could see that you had been with Jesus, Your beaming face - it glowed so much. Our spirits were rekindled by grace, And our hearts were truly touched. You spoke to us of God's great love, And shared precious promises from His Word. Our faith was strengthened by your child-like trust, And by the message of hope we had heard. We had wonderful times of fellowship With our Heavenly Father and His Son. Of all the blessings the Lord has sent our way, There's no doubt that you were one. Were you an Angel? December 23rd, 2001 Jerry Bouey (Dedicated to our friend, Albert, who came into our lives for only a few days, but made an impact on our hearts forever!) Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares. Hebrews 13:2

A Friend When You Need One (Poem)

A Friend When You Need One It's so easy to get discouraged, To be downcast or in despair. When you feel all alone in your wilderness, And it seems that no one cares. That's when temptation hits the hardest, Where the battle is nearly lost - or won. When you stumble through dark valleys And gloomy shadows hide the Son. In your loneliness and your struggles, Here's a solution that may seem odd - Don't look around to man for comfort, Instead, with hope, look up to God. Jesus will provide the grace you require And His Word will light the way. All you need is faith to claim His promises, And your night will turn to day. The Lord knows your each and every need - He knows, before you even ask in prayer. Just keep on being faithful to Him, And, in time, His answer will be there. So instead of giving up in disgrace, Do the work that must be done; You will find that as you run the race, God will bring a friend when you most need one. Prayer For Perfect Peace (Song)

Prayer For Perfect Peace (To the tune of "Great Is Thy Faithfulness") I need Your peace, dear Lord, oh how I dearly cry, Fill me with strength and grace before I die! I'm at the end of hope, help me to cling and cope, Hold me in Your arms and bear me up high. Help me to look to You and cling to You daily, Help me to trust in faith, and cast fears away, Grant me your perfect peace, please fill my mind with ease, Comfort and strengthen my heart, Lord, I pray. Father, I'm trembling, and troubled, and worried; I give these cares to you, oh take them away! Help me to lean on you, I'm wearied with struggling, Fill my aching heart with Your peace today. June 3rd, 2001 Jerry Bouey (Dedicated to Mama Pat) Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on Thee: because he trusteth in Thee. Isaiah 26:3 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which pass...

A Faithful Man (Poem)

A Faithful Man A faithful man - Oh who can find? But you are of that faithful kind! It's been a great blessing, that's for sure, Learning from you how to persevere. Sharing the treasures you've found in God's Word, Drawing us closer to Jesus our Lord. A faithful witness, a beloved Pastor, A trusted guide, and a good friend. Exhorting us with Godly wisdom, On which the Christ-filled life depends. A true testimony to all of God's amazing grace; A blessed example to us of how to run in this race. For being our Pastor, We, the sheep of your flock, Wanted to say, "We love you with all our hearts! And thank you for being so faithful..." Written Christmas 2001 by Jerry Bouey (Dedicated to our Pastor, Claude Madle People's Baptist Church, Kelowna, BC) Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful. 1 Corinthians 4:2 Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honour, especially they who labour in the word and doctrine. 1 Timo...

A Silent Prayer (Poem)

A Silent Prayer When I lose sight of the goal And take my eyes off of the prize, When all I can see are the mountains That rise before my eyes, When all I can feel are the waves That come breaking over my soul, Precious Jesus, I need Your touch To heal me and make me whole. I've fought the good fight, at times it seemed rough, I've kept the faith, even when it was tough, I wish I could finish my course with ease, But sometimes I waver in times like these. My heart is weighed down and burdened with care, Lord, I lift up to you this silent prayer. Don't let me falter - let me be steadfast, Give me a hope that will be sure to last - A confident expectation that all will work out for good - Even when it seems there's no way that it possibly could. When my own strength begins to fail, Anchor my faith within the veil, Where Jesus is. October 17th, 2001 Jerry Bouey (Dedicated to Lori Tremblay, my sis) ... That we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to l...

Take A Second Look At Calvary (Poem)

Take A Second Look At Calvary When I went through times of loneliness, I thought, “Lord, where were You? Don’t You know, Lord, can’t You see all this pain I’m going through?” Then in the midst of my devotions, I was thunderstruck one day When I realized: in my Saviour’s darkest hours all His friends had turned away. When I struggled through depression, I cried, “Lord, where were You? Can’t You take these doubts and fears away; help me somehow make it through?” But I knelt in sweet submission, surrendered all and my heart was still, As I remembered my blessed Saviour praying, “Not Mine, but Your will.” When my heart ached in bitter anguish, grief-struck and broken too, I cried through tears of agony, “Oh my Lord, where were You? I can’t fight this battle anymore, I can’t overcome this gloom.” Then in my self-pity, I recalled, that Jesus wept at Lazarus’ tomb. When I think that I’m forsaken, bitter, anguished and alone, I remember that my Saviour made all my pain His own. He tasted...

Running To Jesus (Poem)

Running To Jesus Running to Jesus, but then stopping short; Oh listen to this message, this solemn report: Don't stop when you see Him - go on, go on - Accept the salvation found in God's Son. Running to Jesus, but then holding back - There is only one thing you so sorely lack: Turn away from all sin that stands in your way; Come running to Jesus, come running today. Running to Jesus - oh but time is fleeting; You also are running to that final meeting. There's an appointment with death that awaits you ahead; Find refuge in Jesus and the blood that He shed. Running to Jesus, but that is not all: Receive Him, believe Him, and answer His call; Oh sinner, don't let it be said on that great Judgement Day, That you weren't running to Jesus - you were running away... May 16th, 2001 Jerry Bouey And when he was gone forth into the way, there came one running, and kneeled to him, and asked him, Good Master, what shall I do t...

Born To Die (Song)

Born To Die I heard about the Saviour, Heard about His lowly birth. How He laid aside His glory, And came down to live on earth. Still I could never fathom why, He left Heaven – born to die. There’s a reason for the season - Sin had slithered into Paradise. There was only one solution - Someone sinless had to pay the price. Jesus was born in a manger one day, Born to give His life away. Born in a manger, born in poverty, Born from a virgin, sinless was He. God sent His Son from Heaven above, Jesus left His throne to prove His love. The Lamb of God, the Saviour came, Born to die – Oh, praise His name! The Bible says He died for me, Was crucified on Calvary, Shed His blood to pay for my sin; I opened my heart and let Him in. He arose from the grave in victory, Oh, praise God, He was born to die for me! Something else – still amazing, yet so true, He was also born to die for you. His sinless blood can wash your sins away, Come to the Saviour, receive Him today. This Good News is the Truth...

Why Wait Until Tomorrow? (Poem)

Why Wait Until Tomorrow? Another year is now over And there's a new one on the way With some fresh New Year's Resolutions And bright promises to make. So many things you wanted to do, So many bad habits to throw away. So many hopeful new horizons Just waiting over the way. All the could'ves, would'ves, should'ves And all the things you wanted to say. But - why wait until tomorrow, When you can begin today? Why wait for another year to pass by, For twelve more months to fly away? When God's mercies are new every morning. He gives us a new beginning every day. So why wait until tomorrow, When you can begin anew today? Praise the Lord for second chances and new beginnings! January 1st, 2001 Jerry Bouey (Dedicated to my Sis, Lori, as a loving reminder that God's mercies are new every morning) This I recall to my mind, therefore have I hope. It is of the LORD'S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: gre...

The Valley Of Faith (Poem)

The year this poem was written was the first year I conquered the depression in my life (and have not been overwhelmed with it since). I remember meditating upon Psalm 23 and thinking it was a wonderful testimony of David's trust in the Lord his God. I wanted that same testimony to be mine (not just to be able to claim the promises contained herein, but also to have others look at my walk with the Lord Jesus Christ, and say that this is my testimony too). This poem came out of those musings. The Valley Of Faith (Based on Psalm 23) The Lord is my Shepherd. He’s proven faithful throughout the years. Though I walk through death’s dark valley, His grace calmly soothes all my fears. As I closely follow His leading, He provides for my every need. Oh, the waters are so peaceful, And the pastures are rich indeed! When I get weary and heavy laden, When the labour of love takes its toll, I go to the Shepherd for refreshing, And He gently restores my soul. As I lean upon the Shepherd, He guid...
