Have Compassion, Making A Difference (Song)

Have Compassion, Making A Difference I thought I was a good Christian, I thought I loved the lost; I believed I was a giving soul - willing to count the cost. But there was something that was missing, and it truly came clear to me: If I wanted to make a difference, having compassion was the key. Chorus: Have compassion, making a difference, Share the truth that will make them free - From a heart stirred by the love of God, Making a difference - eternally! I thought I was so satisfied, serving from day to day; But somehow I made no difference on the lost who came my way. "Search my heart, oh God!" I cried, "Make me a vessel fit for Your use. 'Give me souls, or I die.' It's Your will alone that I choose." Chorus I see the lost stumbling by, blindly on their way to Hell; They need to know the Saviour - oh, who will go to them and tell? Tell them of Jesus who died, so they can live eternally; Moved with compassion, my heart's cry, "Here am I, Lord...

Slow Down, Daddy! (Poem)

Slow Down, Daddy! "Slow down, Daddy, I just can't run that fast!" The little voice calls out to you, as you walk on past. "Wait for me, Daddy, I'm trying hard to follow you..." Walking closely in your footsteps - where are you leading to? "Hey Daddy, hey Daddy, come take a look at me!" The call goes on unheeded; too caught up in your thoughts to see. "Come over here, Daddy, can you stop a minute and play?" The little voice laughs aloud, but you are distracted by your day. "Oh Daddy, guess what we learned in class today. Jesus loves me, this I know. And then we knelt to pray... Tell me Bible stories about Jesus - I really love those parts... I got saved today, Daddy, Jesus now lives in my heart!" "I love you, Daddy, I thought of you all day long... We had so much fun - but I miss you when you're gone. Good night, Daddy, it's been a long, long, day. I'm so sleepy, Daddy, but I love it when you pray." ...

The Prodigal's Return (Song)

The Prodigal's Return The Far Country could never satisfy, Oh what a foolish soul I have been. I've come to myself, and I wonder now, Will my Heavenly Father take me in? Forgive me, Father, for I have sinned - I have wandered astray for many days; Now broken inside, I'm coming home again - I'm so tired of my wayward ways. My thoughts run faster than my feet can go - What kind of reception awaits me there? No, I won't falter, I have to know, "Will He receive me?" my only prayer. Forgive me, Father, for I have sinned. No more wandering about in a daze - Cleanse my heart, make me whole again, Restore the joys of yesterdays. What is that on the horizon? Is that my Father waiting there? A thousand thoughts hedge my ways... But with arms opened wide, He receives me to Himself; My heart's so filled with love and praise. Like the Prodigal, I've come home again, So tired of my wayward ways - Now a peace within and a song of joy; My heart's so filled wit...

Mother's Day In Heaven (Poem)

Because of my commitment to Christ, my Mom and I had been estranged for years. She was somewhat religious, but did not know Jesus Christ as her personal Saviour, until about two or three years before she died. As a result, there were many Mother's Days that went by without regular contact (or anything special done) - but last year, now that we were reconciled and she had become a believer, I wanted to do something really special for her. She had moved back up to Canada, so I was able to purchase an expensive flower arrangement for her and have it delivered to her - I had never done anything like that before, but it meant a whole lot to my Mom. A couple of months later, I was able to see my Mom for a couple of days and spend my Mom's and stepdad's 21st wedding anniversary with them (and my sister and her children - Lori had come up to help our Mom with her progressively failing health) - the last time I had seen My Mom was for a couple of weeks in 2000, and the time prior to...

A Song In The Night (Song)

(This note was written the same night I wrote the song.) I have been meditating a lot on the book of Job lately, and tonight at church I figured out what the Lord would have me preach on Friday - Walking In The Dark - from Job 9:11; 23:8-10; 35:10, 14; and Isaiah 50:10-11. Also, I was thinking of some of those passages sort of to the tune of Since The Saviour Found Me (it was the last song we sang before the message). I know the syllables don't completely fit the song, but they can go to the basic tune, if it was adapted slightly. A Song In The Night Though darkness hides the sunlight, A song is in my soul; In the night of my affliction, The Lord is in control. I cannot see His footsteps – The path He leads me down; All the way, there’s a promise: His path leads to a crown. Within the stormy blackness, Jesus has His eye on me; Though the darkness hide Him, By faith I still can see. Though nighttime falls around me, The cross leads to the tomb, My footsteps will not falter, His W...
