Go, And I Am With You

Go, My child, for I am with you,
Go, in the fullness of My love.
I know the thoughts that I think towards you -
I’ve given you a mission from above.

My Heart's Desire

Lord, let my love go to Your people;
Let my heart break for the lost;
Let me give my life in service,
For the message of the cross.

Let me go to all the nations,
Or let me serve You here at home -
For wherever You will lead me,
Let me kneel before Your throne.

Let me see others as You see them;
Let me love them as You do;

To bring lost children home to You.

Go Forward On Your Knees (Poem)

Go Forward On Your Knees

How brave and sure were those missionaries of old,

Those faithful prayer warriors - they were so bold;

Courageously saying, “Give me souls or I die!”

“Go forward on your knees” was their fervent battle cry.

“God's work done in God's way will never lack God's supply.”

Go forward boldly, following your Saviour from on high;

Though “You do not need a great faith, but faith in a great God” -

“Go forward on your knees” - follow the footsteps Jesus has trod.

By faith we know, “Prayer moves the arm that moves the world!”

Under the banner of the cross, let your flag be unfurled.

Victory is promised, but it will not be on beds of ease -

Before reaching Honan, Goforth had received a cordial letter from Hudson Taylor, telling him of the tremendous obstacles ahead and reminding him of his need of super-natural assistance. "Brother, if you would enter that province," Taylor wrote, "you must go forward on your knees." Goforth did just that. Not a day passed but that circumstances and events caused him to recall his life text and to rely on its promise, "Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, saith the LORD of hosts" (Zechariah 4:6). How Shall They Call?

In a world that is blinded by darkness,

Men’s souls that are shadowed by night,

We shine out among those around us -

To the lost and perishing, we are the light.

How shall they call unless they hear the truth.

How shall they respond unless they know;

How shall they ever hear the Gospel,

Unless someone here tells them so.

Jesus Christ paid the price that was needed

To redeem mankind back from their sin;

Powerful poem! This poem was in my church bulletin this last Sunday, with these words as the introduction to it:

Margaret Clarkson, who was born in 1915, was a teacher in a gold-mining camp in northern Ontario, Canada. It was a lonely life for this woman, but she also knew that this is where God wanted her to serve Him. She had a great desire to be a missionary on a foreign field but because of her health was unable to go. One day she was reading again the verse John 20:21, "Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you." While meditating on this verse she wrote the words to a hymn that has become a favorite during missionary conferences, "So Send I You." Maybe after reading the words to this hymn a person would fear the call to missions. But, what a person must understand is that when God calls, He gives such a great desire that all else is unsatisfying and empty.

For Such A Time As This (Song)

This song was neat to work on. Angela Trenholm and her daughter had written three stanzas for an upcoming Missions Conference. I was listening as they were starting to put together the chorus, as we were riding to church - then all three of us finished the chorus, and I think it was that night that I came up with the other three stanzas. If you know the song for the tune that we used, you will realize that I added a little reference to it in one of the stanzas - it certainly fit! John R. Rice's Song is great and I have heard Angela sing it as a special in church. But this song was a special treat - because I had a part in it. Another bonus was the fact that my sister, whom I hadn't seen in six years, was able to be here for the special that Angela and Sarah sang in church. It was definitely a blessing to hear the finished product, and to see the glow on my sister's face when she said, "Wow, that really got my attention! You had a part in writing that? That song was so wonderful!"

The Trenholms actually sang a shorter version of this song in church in 2005; due to time restraints, we combined the middle two stanzas.

Another praise item: this song was the theme song for our 2008 Missions Conference. The fourth and fifth verses were omitted, but the others are sung - two verses, then the chorus, two more verses, then the final chorus. It is a dream come true for me - to have a part in a song that others sang in church.
