My Heart's Desire (Poem)

My Heart's Desire Lord, let my love go to Your people; Let my heart break for the lost; Let me give my life in service, For the message of the cross. Let me go to all the nations, Or let me serve You here at home - For wherever You will lead me, Let me kneel before Your throne. Let me see others as You see them; Let me love them as You do; Let my heart be burdened greatly, To bring lost children home to You. Let me pour my heart out to You; Let me petition You each day; Let Your love flow right through me, Bowing before You as I pray. Let me carry Your Word to others, As You guide me by Your hand; Let me boldly speak Your wonders - Lord, open hearts to understand. Give me wisdom, give me courage; Let me be part of Your plan; Let me always persevere In this grace in which I stand. Lord, as You go before me, Let my feet so gladly follow. Let me always share Your mercies To a world lost and hollow. Let me carry forth this Good News , Lord, and set the captives free; Let me serve You...

Martyr's Song/Victory (Poems)

Martyr’s Song (Inspired by John Huss - who was martyred in 1420 AD) I go to my death singing sweet praises to the Lamb; I breathe my last breath, saying, I love the Great I Am; I worship the Creator, who formed the Heavens and the Earth; I commit my soul to Him, who chose me before my birth; I bend my knees and bow to the Lord who rules above; And I truly know this now, that my God is truly love. December 10, 1995 Jerry Bouey Romans 8:18 For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. Revelation 2:10 Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life. Victory I’ll take the pain, Father, I’ll take the loss; I’ll face the future, not minding the cost; For You, Lord, I’ll crucify myself each day, So in me others may see Chr...

Love (Poem)

Love Love is such a wonderful feeling when you find someone who is true. Love can tear down walls of stone; it can make you someone new. Love can build you up inside, like you never thought it could; Love can repair old wounds, heal you, make you feel so good. God’s love is seen in every mighty miracle - sometimes it’s as simple as a flower. Love can fill you up with life as you’re drenched with an April shower. Love can take you to the highest heights, hold you, and never let you fall; Love can be in the gentlest, softest word, yet love can conquer all. Love can be expressed in many ways - it may mean different things to you: Love is in the very words you say, but it’s also in what you do. God has given us a precious gift; His infinite love is so true: He sent His Son to be with us, to suffer and die for you. If love is glimpsed in the way we live, how we react, how we share, Maybe it’s time to reach out and give - live love, show someone you care. September 13th, 1993 Jerry Bou...

Is Love Stranger Than Fiction? (Poem)

Is Love Stranger Than Fiction? I don't believe in Cupid's arrows - Trusting in myths isn't too smart; But I believe that someone special Has gently but firmly touched my heart. I don't believe in love at first sight - I know true love takes time; I do believe when God's timing is right, Two separate lives can make one rhyme. I don't believe that love is blind - It's only God's truth that makes us see; With eyes wide open, we're bound to find True love was made for eternity. I don't believe that loves comes easy - True love requires the greatest sacrifice; But when God's Spirit sheds His love in our hearts, Love is worth more than any price. Set me as a seal on your heart, For love is stronger than the bonds of death; Like a flaming fire, it sets two lives ablaze; True love can give meaning to every breath. Many waters cannot quench love; Even raging floods cannot drown it away; For when our lives are transformed by God's touch, I know t...

It's A Sad Thing To Be An Infidel (Poem)

It's A Sad Thing To Be An Infidel It's a sad thing to be an infidel. To deny there's a literal Heaven and Hell. To reject all absolute claims that there's a loving God, Then expect to live in Heaven someday - my, how odd! It's a wretched thing to be a modernist. To deny that every single one of us has sinned, Then somehow expect that by calling God a liar, Will miraculously make you right with Him! It's a cursed thing to be a New-Evangelical. Claiming to be God's friend when you won't trust or obey, Somehow thinking that by being religious, Will magically blot out your sins on Judgement Day! It's a sorry thing to claim to believe the Bible While you're doing your best to explain it away. Stubbornly thinking that by doing good works, Will compensate for the price our Lord had to pay! It's a wonderful thing to actually believe the Bible. To trust wholly that every Word of God is true, To accept Jesus Christ as your very own Saviour, Believing...

In Jesus' Name (Poem)

In Jesus' Name Lord Jesus, I want it to be: Your will I seek Your Word I speak Your life I live Your blessings I give Your love I show Your Truth I know Your Knowledge I learn Your fire inside that burns You that my soul yearns Your Wisdom to refute fools Your Spirit that completely rules You that my heart enthrones You that I crown alone Your peace that guards my mind Your riches that I seek to find Your glory that I make my aim My life I live in Jesus' name. November 26th, 1995 Jerry Bouey Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done. Luke 22:42 Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God. 1 Corinthians 10:31 And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him. Colossians 3:17

Were You An Angel? (Poem)

Were You An Angel? We wondered were you an angel? When you walked through our front door. You touched our lives in so many ways - Made them different than before. We could see that you had been with Jesus, Your beaming face - it glowed so much. Our spirits were rekindled by grace, And our hearts were truly touched. You spoke to us of God's great love, And shared precious promises from His Word. Our faith was strengthened by your child-like trust, And by the message of hope we had heard. We had wonderful times of fellowship With our Heavenly Father and His Son. Of all the blessings the Lord has sent our way, There's no doubt that you were one. Were you an Angel? December 23rd, 2001 Jerry Bouey (Dedicated to our friend, Albert, who came into our lives for only a few days, but made an impact on our hearts forever!) Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares. Hebrews 13:2

I Call Him Saviour (Poem)

I Call Him Saviour All that you could ever need is found in the Lord; He’s the First and the Last, the Beginning And The End. The Lord Jesus Christ is God With Us - Immanuel - The Messiah is my Beloved, and my True Friend. He’s the Precious Rock on which I build my life, The Sure Foundation and the Corner Stone; The Lamb of God who died for all my sins; The Shepherd who will never leave me alone. Jesus is the King of kings and the King of Glory; The Desire of Nations is God's Only Begotten Son; He is the Ancient of Days, and the coming Prince of Peace; He is the Branch of Righteousness, and the Holy One. He is my Comforter, my Shield and my High Tower; In Jesus Christ, I have grace and eternal favour; There are oh, so many names for the Bishop of my Soul - Some call Him the Almighty God - but I call Him my Saviour. December 18th, 2024 Jerry Bouey Acts 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. P...

When I Stop Praying (Poem)

When I Stop Praying When I stop praying - my whole life falls apart, No joy thrills my soul, no peace fills my heart, My compassion soon dies and my desires are not met, The future seems uncertain, and there's no end of debt. When I stop praying - it is obvious, the Lord I have not sought, I have not seen Him work in my life and heart as I ought, The things that I loathe about myself are still there, And the plans that I am making are castles built on the air. When I stop praying - I have let reign fear and doubt, I have taken the reins of my life and left the Master out; To other Christians and the world, I have let it be known That I am prideful and think I can do it all on my own. When I stop praying - it's obvious to the Lord that I fell From my own steadfastness while others are on their way to Hell, I am not standing in the gap, nor caring for the lost, I am not plucking brands from the fire, nor counting the cost. When I start praying again - the reverse is quite true,...

Tell The World About Jesus (Song)

Tell The World About Jesus The light is shining in the darkness, but can this lost world see? Can they see the glorious light of Jesus Christ shining through me? We are the light of this dark world, but is our light still glowing bright, Are we separated from the darkness, do we stand out in the night? (Chorus) Let's tell them all about Jesus and His love for their precious souls; Let's tell them how He died, and how through faith they can be made whole; Let's tell them He arose in triumph, victorious over the grave; Let's tell them all about the Saviour, for the debt's already been paid. Are we the salt of this world, do we create a thirst for Him? Do we still offer the solution to the souls scarred from sin? Can they really see the difference that Jesus Christ has made in me? Have you told others about the Saviour who died to make them free? Let's tell the world about Jesus, let's tell them the Gospel story; Let's bring this message to the lost, let...

The Road - A Story In Four Parts (Poem)

Here is one of my earlier Christian poems told in the form of a story or allegory. Perhaps it will cause someone else to think about what road they are on in life: the Broad Way or the Narrow Way. If you are not sure you what road you are on, please make sure you are on the Narrow Road by trusting in the Lord Jesus Christ alone for salvation. The Road - Part One The Rearview Mirror There's a little Narrow Road that leads to life. You drive on past and say, "This is nice. This wide eight-laned Highway is just great!" Shifting gears, you speed on past the Narrow Gate. You head off into the distance, Down this winding Highway; On the roadside a sign is posted - What does it say? "Destruction Ahead." Boy, you think, someone can't spell. This road is paved much too smoothly To lead anyone to Hell. You glance quickly into your rearview mirror, But the Narrow Road can no longer be seen. With your foot on the gas pedal, You pour on the power to this pleasure machin...

Inexpressible (Poem)

Inexpressible Inexpressible, formless, unutterable... What my heart wants to say to You. Inside, the words aren't flowing right, I offer You a glimpse - the barest view. What Your love means to my heart, I can only share the smallest part. Inexpressible, formless, unutterable... To my heart - these words are priceless, But I can't reach inside to pull them out; What I'm feeling so real, I can't express. Oh Your love for me means so very much - When I try to grasp these words ... They slip right out of touch. Inexpressible - the very words I long to say... Formless - they don't come together the right way... Unutterable - I can only offer You my heart, And let Your Spirit read each and every part... Maybe my heart can reveal the prayer That is locked deep within; This prayer I send to You. The love that You gave to me, I long to share; I long to give these words to You. Inexpressible, formless, unutterable... August 20th, 1995 Jerry Bouey Likewise the Spirit also h...

I Love You, Lord (Poem)

I Love You, Lord I love You, Lord - Oh help me to see How infinitely precious I am to Thee. Help me to rest In Your tender care; Believing in faith, And trusting in prayer. Help me say "no" to myself And "yes" to Your will; My mind totally yielded, My heart quiet and still. Change me, Oh Lord, Tame what is wild; Transform my life, Grant me faith like a child. January 23, 1997 Jerry Bouey Mark 14:36 And he said, Abba, Father, all things are possible unto thee; take away this cup from me: nevertheless not what I will, but what thou wilt. Psalm 46:10 Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.

I Know (Poem)

I Know I get up each morning and I start each day I think about You and I start to pray And I know, I know Everything’s going to work out fine. I shower and dress with my mind above I know You’re near and I feel Your love I believe, I believe You are in control. I put on Your armour to face the foe I don shoes of peace and I start to go I follow, follow You You will light my way. I head out the door upon my way Oh Lord God, what can I say? I know, I know I’m resting in Your arms. I persevere even if the day seems dark Because in my heart I can feel the spark Of Your love, Your love Fills me more each day. May 5th, 1995 Jerry Bouey 2 Timothy 1:12 For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day. Colossians 3:1 If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Ep...

God's Everlasting Token (Poem)

God’s Everlasting Token Adopted into God’s family, you are precious and close to His heart; You’ve been graven upon His very hands; He will never leave you nor depart. Your name is written in the Lamb’s Book of Life, with ink that can never fade away. You were bought with the spotless blood of Christ, you are kept preserved until that day. You are a new creature in Christ Jesus, born again by the Spirit of God; Changed by His grace into a vessel of honour, justified and washed in His blood. Held tightly by the Father and the Son - nothing can pluck you out of their hands. Safe and secure in the Lord Jesus Christ; He is the sure Rock on which you stand. Jesus shed His sinless blood for you - on Calvary, the price has been fully paid; Sealed by the Holy Spirit of God, the downpayment has already been made. You have an inheritance and riches saved - in Heaven, reserved and kept in store; Everything you could ever want is in Jesus - all your deepest needs and more. Continuing the work begu...

A Bruised Reed (Poem)

A Bruised Reed I feel so bruised and so battered; These burdens are too much for me. Weighed down and heavy laden with struggles, I’m overwhelmed by the darkness I can see. My fire seems to flicker and falter, At times I am afraid it may go out. This pain inside seems so strong today - Oh, why must I stumble and doubt? There’s a mustard seed of faith in my heart. At times it doesn’t seem to reach God’s throne above; But when I cry out from the depths in desperation, A still small voice inside whispers of Your love. When I’m sinking, Your arms reach down towards me; In gentleness, You rescue my soul from the mire. You lift me up and set my feet upon solid ground again; In Your lovingkindness, You lift me up even higher. Though I’m a bruised reed, You will not break me. Your mercy and compassion heal my soul. Though this smoking flax seems to almost be quenched, By Your tenderness and grace, You make me whole. You gently lead me in the paths of Your Word; In righteousness and truth...

Is Your All On The Altar? - Hymn by Elisha Hoffman

Is Your All On The Altar? (Lyrics by Elisha A. Hoffman) You have longed for sweet peace, And for faith to increase, And have earnestly, fervently prayed; But you cannot have rest, Or be perfectly blest, Until all on the altar is laid. Chorus: Is your all on the altar of sacrifice laid? Your heart does the Spirit control? You can only be blest, And have peace and sweet rest, As you yield Him your body and soul. Would you walk with the Lord, In the light of His Word, And have peace and contentment alway? You must do His sweet will, To be free from all ill, On the altar your all you must lay. O we never can know What the Lord will bestow Of the blessings for which we have prayed, Till our body and soul He doth fully control, And our all on the altar is laid. Who can tell all the love He will send from above, And how happy our hearts will be made, Of the fellowship sweet We shall share at His feet, When our all on the altar is laid. Romans 12:1-2 I beseech you therefore, brethren, b...

Like A River Glorious (Hymn)

Like A River Glorious (Lyrics:Frances Havergal) Like a river glorious, is God s perfect peace, Over all victorious, in its bright increase; Perfect, yet it floweth, fuller every day, Perfect, yet it groweth, deeper all the way. Chorus: Stayed upon Jehovah, hearts are fully blest Finding, as He promised, perfect peace and rest. Hidden in the hollow of His blessed hand, Never foe can follow, never traitor stand; Not a surge of worry, not a shade of care, Not a blast of hurry, touch the spirit there. Every joy or trial falleth from above, Traced upon our dial by the Sun of Love; We may trust Him fully all for us to do. They who trust Him wholly find Him wholly true. Isaiah 26:3-4 Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee. Trust ye in the LORD for ever: for in the LORD JEHOVAH is everlasting strength: Philippians 4:6-7 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made know...

Open Doors (Poem)

Open Doors In every person’s life, we find so many doors opened or closed; The True Light shines out amongst us, which the darkness has always opposed. Jesus is the only Saviour - He is the Way to Heaven’s shore. For all the lost and scattered sheep, Jesus says, “Behold, I Am the Door.” All we like sheep have gone astray, but the price has been fully paid; On the cross of Calvary, all our iniquities on Him were laid. Today is the day of salvation; oh, sinner, what are you waiting for? The Saviour still is pleading - behold, He is knocking at your heart’s door. Open doors and open windows, filled with many blessings from above. “See how I will pour you out a blessing so there will always be enough. Test Me now, and try Me, my child, claim all of these promises so true. As you walk through these doors of ministry, know I will always be with you.” One day soon, there’ll be a voice like a trumpet, and in the twinkling of an eye, We will hear, “Come up hither,” and see our Saviour com...

Going Through The Door (Poem)

Going Through The Door I'm dying now, he thought, there's no one here to hold my hand - No one but my Saviour, though I know He understands. Times have sure been lonely, and my friends have gone away, I sit here in my easy chair, waiting for the end of day. My chest is hurting more now and the pain seems awful strong, But there's a peace within me and on my lips a whispered song. I try to reach for the phone now, but it seems too far away. I want to call out to my wife but all I can do is pray. There are no words coming forth, but my thoughts are racing fast; In sweet silent meditation, I look back over my past. Short of breath, I stop to wonder, "Was my life worth it all?" Then I think of Jesus, and His loving Gospel call: How He came to me and saved me, changed my heart from within, How He purchased my full redemption and took away my sin. Through many years of service, no, I've no regrets, Because I have a home in Heaven that still awaits me yet. A sudden...
