My Heart's Desire (Poem)

My Heart's Desire

Lord, let my love go to Your people;
Let my heart break for the lost;
Let me give my life in service,
For the message of the cross.

Let me go to all the nations,
Or let me serve You here at home -
For wherever You will lead me,
Let me kneel before Your throne.

Let me see others as You see them;
Let me love them as You do;
Let my heart be burdened greatly,
To bring lost children home to You.

Let me pour my heart out to You;
Let me petition You each day;
Let Your love flow right through me,
Bowing before You as I pray.

Let me carry Your Word to others,
As You guide me by Your hand;
Let me boldly speak Your wonders -
Lord, open hearts to understand.

Give me wisdom, give me courage;
Let me be part of Your plan;
Let me always persevere
In this grace in which I stand.

Lord, as You go before me,
Let my feet so gladly follow.
Let me always share Your mercies
To a world lost and hollow.

Let me carry forth this Good News,
Lord, and set the captives free;
Let me serve You with my whole heart,
As I give myself to Thee.

For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ:
for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth;
to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith:
as it is written, The just shall live by faith.
Romans 1:16-17

Martyr's Song/Victory (Poems)

Martyr’s Song

(Inspired by John Huss - who was martyred in 1420 AD)

I go to my death singing sweet praises to the Lamb;
I breathe my last breath, saying, I love the Great I Am;
I worship the Creator, who formed the Heavens and the Earth;
I commit my soul to Him, who chose me before my birth;
I bend my knees and bow to the Lord who rules above;
And I truly know this now, that my God is truly love.

Romans 8:18 For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.

Revelation 2:10 Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.

Victory

I’ll take the pain, Father, I’ll take the loss;
I’ll face the future, not minding the cost;
For You, Lord, I’ll crucify myself each day,
So in me others may see Christ, and find the way.

I’ll risk it all for little profit or gain;
Never give up hope when all seems in vain.
I’ll reap a harvest if I persevere;
When Christ is my life - whom shall I fear?

I’ll help plant the seed so others may grow;
The fruit of the Spirit - I’ll reap what I sow;
A martyr for the Lord, that’s what I’ll be;
I know I can’t lose - in Jesus is victory!

1 John 3:16 Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.

John 15:13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

Revelation 12:10-11 And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night. And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.

Personal Testimony: When I wrote the poem above, I remember other Christians around me thought it was presumptuous for me to think I could ever be a martyr for the Lord Jesus Christ and for my faith in Him, but I do know two facts:

  1. If you don't LIVE for the Lord, you could never DIE for the Lord.
  2. Like many precious believers in the past, God promises to give grace to His children that He calls to die for His name. So if I am ever called to do so, my God is still the same as He was through all the ages of the past. Just like He gave those faithful martyrs His Spirit to work in and through them, gave them the words to speak (as He promised in Mark 13:9-13), and the strength to be faithful to Him and to die for their faith in the Saviour, so too will He give me the strength and faith to do likewise, if He so wills.

Love (Poem)

Love

Love is such a wonderful feeling
when you find someone who is true.
Love can tear down walls of stone;
it can make you someone new.

Love can build you up inside,
like you never thought it could;
Love can repair old wounds,
heal you, make you feel so good.

God’s love is seen in every mighty miracle -
sometimes it’s as simple as a flower.
Love can fill you up with life
as you’re drenched with an April shower.

Love can take you to the highest heights,
hold you, and never let you fall;
Love can be in the gentlest, softest word,
yet love can conquer all.

Love can be expressed in many ways -
it may mean different things to you:
Love is in the very words you say,
but it’s also in what you do.

God has given us a precious gift;
His infinite love is so true:
He sent His Son to be with us,
to suffer and die for you.

If love is glimpsed in the way we live,
how we react, how we share,
Maybe it’s time to reach out and give -
live love, show someone you care.

John 3:16-17 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

1 John 3:16-18 Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. But whoso hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him? My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.

1 John 4:16-19 And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him. Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world. There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love. We love him, because he first loved us.

Is Love Stranger Than Fiction? (Poem)

Is Love Stranger Than Fiction?

I don't believe in Cupid's arrows -
Trusting in myths isn't too smart;
But I believe that someone special
Has gently but firmly touched my heart.

I don't believe in love at first sight -
I know true love takes time;
I do believe when God's timing is right,
Two separate lives can make one rhyme.

I don't believe that love is blind -
It's only God's truth that makes us see;
With eyes wide open, we're bound to find
True love was made for eternity.

I don't believe that loves comes easy -
True love requires the greatest sacrifice;
But when God's Spirit sheds His love in our hearts,
Love is worth more than any price.

Set me as a seal on your heart,
For love is stronger than the bonds of death;
Like a flaming fire, it sets two lives ablaze;
True love can give meaning to every breath.

Many waters cannot quench love;
Even raging floods cannot drown it away;
For when our lives are transformed by God's touch,
I know this treasure is here to stay.

Set me as a seal upon thine heart, as a seal upon thine arm:
for love is strong as death; jealousy is cruel as the grave:
the coals thereof are coals of fire, which hath a most vehement flame.
Many waters cannot quench love, neither can the floods drown it:
if a man would give all the substance of his house for love,
it would utterly be contemned.
Song of Solomon 8:6-7

And hope maketh not ashamed;
because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts
by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.
Romans 5:5

It's A Sad Thing To Be An Infidel (Poem)

It's A Sad Thing To Be An Infidel

It's a sad thing to be an infidel.
To deny there's a literal Heaven and Hell.
To reject all absolute claims that there's a loving God,
Then expect to live in Heaven someday - my, how odd!

It's a wretched thing to be a modernist.
To deny that every single one of us has sinned,
Then somehow expect that by calling God a liar,
Will miraculously make you right with Him!

It's a cursed thing to be a New-Evangelical.
Claiming to be God's friend when you won't trust or obey,
Somehow thinking that by being religious,
Will magically blot out your sins on Judgement Day!

It's a sorry thing to claim to believe the Bible
While you're doing your best to explain it away.
Stubbornly thinking that by doing good works,
Will compensate for the price our Lord had to pay!

It's a wonderful thing to actually believe the Bible.
To trust wholly that every Word of God is true,
To accept Jesus Christ as your very own Saviour,
Believing that He suffered on Calvary for you!

It's a blessed thing to believe all of God's promises.
Knowing that the Lord is sovereign in your life.
Clinging closely to Christ in the midst of the trials,
Having inward peace, even during outward strife!

It's an awesome thing to be a Christian.
No longer condemned and under wrath, but reconciled.
To know you have eternal life in Heaven,
With sins forgiven, and welcomed as God's dear child!

Matthew 7:21-23 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

John 3:18-21 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.

1 John 1:8, 10 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us... If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.

Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

2 Timothy 3:15-17 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

1 Thessalonians 2:13 For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe.

In Jesus' Name (Poem)

In Jesus' Name

Lord Jesus, I want it to be:

Your will I seek
Your Word I speak

Your life I live
Your blessings I give

Your love I show
Your Truth I know

Your Knowledge I learn
Your fire inside that burns
You that my soul yearns

Your Wisdom to refute fools
Your Spirit that completely rules

You that my heart enthrones
You that I crown alone

Your peace that guards my mind
Your riches that I seek to find

Your glory that I make my aim
My life I live in Jesus' name.

Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me:
nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done.
Luke 22:42

Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do,
do all to the glory of God.
1 Corinthians 10:31

And whatsoever ye do in word or deed,
do all in the name of the Lord Jesus,
giving thanks to God and the Father by him.

Were You An Angel? (Poem)

Were You An Angel?

We wondered were you an angel?
When you walked through our front door.
You touched our lives in so many ways -
Made them different than before.

We could see that you had been with Jesus,
Your beaming face - it glowed so much.
Our spirits were rekindled by grace,
And our hearts were truly touched.

You spoke to us of God's great love,
And shared precious promises from His Word.
Our faith was strengthened by your child-like trust,
And by the message of hope we had heard.

We had wonderful times of fellowship
With our Heavenly Father and His Son.
Of all the blessings the Lord has sent our way,
There's no doubt that you were one.

Were you an Angel?

who came into our lives for only a few days,
but made an impact on our hearts forever!)

for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.

I Call Him Saviour (Poem)

I Call Him Saviour

All that you could ever need is found in the Lord;
He’s the First and the Last, the Beginning And The End.
The Lord Jesus Christ is God With Us - Immanuel -
The Messiah is my Beloved, and my True Friend.

He’s the Precious Rock on which I build my life,
The Sure Foundation and the Corner Stone;
The Lamb of God who died for all my sins;
The Shepherd who will never leave me alone.

Jesus is the King of kings and the King of Glory;
The Desire of Nations is God's Only Begotten Son;
He is the Ancient of Days, and the coming Prince of Peace;
He is the Branch of Righteousness, and the Holy One.

He is my Comforter, my Shield and my High Tower;
In Jesus Christ, I have grace and eternal favour;
There are oh, so many names for the Bishop of my Soul -
Some call Him the Almighty God - but I call Him my Saviour.

Acts 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

Philippians 2:5-11 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
