Hymn for Sunday
Here is a song I haven't heard for a while! I think I am going to suggest it to our song leader at our next service. It is a fitting end to a week with the theme of Valleys.
Stand By Me
(Charles A. Tindley)
When the storms of life are raging,
Stand by me (stand by me);
When the storms of life are raging,
Stand by me (stand by me);
When the world is tossing me
Like a ship upon the sea
Thou Who rulest wind and water,
Stand by me (stand by me).
In the midst of tribulation,
Stand by me (stand by me);
In the midst of tribulation,
Stand by me (stand by me);
When the hosts of hell assail,
And my strength begins to fail,
Thou Who never lost a battle,
Stand by me (stand by me).
In the midst of faults and failures,
Stand by me (stand by me);
In the midst of faults and failures,
Stand by me (stand by me);
When I do the best I can,
And my friends misunderstand,
Thou Who knowest all about me,
Stand by me (stand by me).
In the midst of persecution,
Stand by me (stand by me);
In the midst of persecution,
Stand by me (stand by me);
When my foes in battle array
Undertake to stop my way,
Thou Who saved Paul and Silas,
Stand by me (stand by me).
When I’m growing old and feeble,
Stand by me (stand by me);
When I’m growing old and feeble,
Stand by me (stand by me);
When my life becomes a burden,
And I’m nearing chilly Jordan,
O Thou “Lily of the Valley,”
Stand by me (stand by me).
(Charles A. Tindley)

Pastor Crosby Alabama
Thank you both for leaving comments.
ReplyDeleteHelen, there are several sites online that have mp3s of great hymns of the faith. The one I used a lot was Cyberhymnal, but it seems to have disappeared now. Perhaps you could do an online search and find some more sites of this nature where you could download these songs.
Pastor Crosby, this is certainly an encouraging hymn. I am glad it was a blessing to you.
can I buy the sound track? let me know at mfqueenmary@embarqmail.com It is called stand by me by charles a tindey??????
ReplyDeletethank you Mary
Mary, I don't know how old this hymn is, so I don't know if the author ever recorded it. There may be someone that has recorded it on a record or CD, but unfortunately, I have no way to know who has done so nor whether the recording is Godly or not. You can probably find an MP3 of it online somewhere (at least of the music, perhaps not of someone singing it). God bless.
