Just Three Sharp Nails (Poem)

Just Three Sharp Nails

Three nails held tightly in a soldier's hand,
Just three sharp nails, according to God's plan.
The bystanders watched as the scene was played;
Just these three nails, and the price was paid.

Three nails glinted dully in the morning sun,
Just three sharp nails, and the deed was done.
The blood from His wounds dripped down to the ground;
Just these three nails, and the Son of God was bound.

Three nails held tight the eyes of all nearby,
Just three sharp nails, and a loud, piercing cry,
"It is finished," Jesus shouted, then He died;
Just these three nails, and the Messiah, crucified.

Three nails were pounded into a cross of wood,
Just three sharp nails, and the Saviour who would
Bear all mankind's sins, as He hung in agony;
Just these three nails are the sinner's perfect plea.

And being found in fashion as a man,
he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death,
even the death of the cross.

Philippians 2:8

Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith;
who for the joy that was set before him
endured the cross, despising the shame,
and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Hebrews 12:2
